If you’re like me, you shop online a lot. But here’s the thing: there aren’t many rules that popular online marketplaces like Amazon must follow when it comes to the products they sell, so you may be taking more of a risk than you realize when you buy. 

Technology writer Stacey Higginbotham found this out first-hand when she took part in a Consumer Reports investigation into video doorbells sold on several major online marketplaces. We’ll talk about what they found, how these same risks exist across the online shopping space, and what you can look for to shop online in a more secure way.
